Monday, June 1

Today was absolutely fantastic. We didn't need to get an early start, so we slept in a little, left the marina around 10:00 this morning and continued heading south. It was, as usual, grey and cloudy and wet, but the ocean was calmer, so we didn't get body-slammed around the boat every 27 seconds. Around 4:00 this afternoon, we sailed into blue skies and delighted in some glorious sunshine for about an hour and a half. Not long after the clouds started closing in again, we spotted some gray whales and had a fabulous show of breaching and spouting and acrobatics. They're amazing.

Yesterday was good, too -- two good days in a row! I got the perfect birthday presents (a book of yo-yo tricks and a yo-yo, a book of balloon animals and some balloons (yes, I'm like a nine-year-old), and a cowbell), we got to dry out all of our wet stuff, and we went for an actual walk on land.

Yesterday's menu:
breakfast: scrambled eggs and bacon
lunch: at the marina's fish shack
dinner: birthday (pineapple upside down) cake

Today:
breakfast: scones and jam
lunch: snacks
dinner: pasta with veggies

  1. Haven't heard an update for a couple days. I hope sailing is smooth. Can't wait to catch up with the Thompsons.
